Anyone have a child that refuses the stroller?  My 3 year old does not want to take the stroller to the zoo because he knows he can not see when he is sitting in it.

Reilly has never liked riding in her stroller--as an infant she would scream on walks in her stroller, so I switched to babywearing and never went back.  And given the option between a stroller or walking, she'll choose to walk.  Given the option between a stroller or the Ergo, she'll choose the Ergo.  Which is fine by me because I hate pushing a stroller!

We took Reilly to the Air Show last Saturday with the Ergo and her harness (*gasp*  Wink ) and it worked great!

My oldest daughter never had a stroller (starting at age 2). She walked with us or we carried her but the thought of her being strapped in just made her mad. I honestly think it helped her learn how to walk with us and I also think it is a good idea for them to get the exercise. My little one enjoys her stroller, but I tend to switch between the stroller and Snuglie (maybe eventually the Ergo, they are great!) and it works well for us. I will probably hide her stroller when she gets to be 2-ish because it worked out so well with my oldest.

I don't know why I was stressing about this...nothing else to do I suppose.  The last few times we have gone to the zoo, I took the stroller in, but Edyn walked most of the time.  Maybe she's getting to the age where she doesn't want/need to ride so much.  She has always enjoyed it...people watching, I think.
What stinks is, without a stroller, I have to carry my purse, water bottle, etc.  Ugh.

JB79... Okay, at the risk of "outing myself" as a bad mom.... here is what you do. You get a little backpack that will hold the water bottle, your wallet, your keys, and the essential stuff. You tell your kiddo that it's her job to carry the backpack! I know, this sounds bad, but I have a diaper bag that is a backpack. When I have my 6month old in the Snugli I strap the backpack onto my big girl. She likes that she has a special job to do and then I am not stuck carrying a baby on the front as well as a diaper bag on my back. When my oldest was younger, we had a small backpack that we could take with us on walks that held the essentials. She always seemed to get a kick out of it. She said it was just like Dora and her backpack.

When my boys were little I used the double tandem stroller (never, never, never buy a double wide!).  They are heavy, but very convenient.  I also had two of the foldable $15. strollers for when my husband and I went places with our twins together.  He pushed one, and I pushed one.  I think if you go for walks that are really long, you need something for the toddler too unless you really enjoy the sound of whining!   Grin
